Description

Here is an interpretation of what a tropical wild flower would look like if it were combined with a dragon. The image is called "Snap Dragon" a line-art image taken from the pages of LEATHER WINGS SEMBLANCE that I really enjoyed working on. I had no idea where I was going when I started painting this illustration but I knew that if I kept pushing through I would come up with something interesting. I hope you like it!

It helps if you put in LOADS of contrast between light and darkness- but what you did here, it makes it almost hazy. Dreamlike. This is a painting, right? Besides the contrast issue, I can't allow myself to critique you any more.

You had this come to randomly, right? This is brilliant if this just started out as a little idea! I can't criticize it in any way! The detail is incredible, and the color choice is complimentary to the them you seem to have set up with this piece. I love it~

What you should do as an excersize (to get to know yourself more as an artist)- is to put something, anything, on a canvas, and try to paint it as fast as you can. Allow yourself some time to plan everything beforehand. Once you start to tackle the painting and all, make note of what you started with. What colors did you work with first? Did you start with the main part of the piece first, or did you go for the backround? You don't even have to finish the piece to know what you're going to end with. Once you get your habits down as an artist, you should try to figure out ways to either change it, step out of your comfort zone and discover some new things you can do to make your art better, or perfect what comes to you first, naturally.

Ergh....it's a bit lengthy, but I hope this helps!
